Year 1 from 2027

Malaysian children born in 2021 may start Year 1 in 2027 if their parents choose, without a screening test. For what applies to your child now, check the latest KPM FAQ, JPN or PPD.

We prepare children for the move to primary school, but we cannot promise a place at any school or a level of fluency. Read Year 1 in 2027: ages, dates and how to plan.

For the everyday side, such as asking for help, routines and looking after their own things, see getting ready for Primary 1, with a printable conversation checklist to take to your child's teacher. It is not a test and has no score.
